Halloween Tutorial!

Halloween is coming... have you started thinking about your Halloween costume this year?! I haven't yet, but I have been thinking a lot about the new Halloween Range which I have in progress (here but mostly at my other blog here!)

Anyway, I have a new tutorial listed over at my online Hummingbird Miniature shop. It's for making spooky Halloween Donuts. You can find the PDF here!

For 1 week only I am offering a 15% discount on all tutorials (you can use the discount at both of my shops). Find details on how to claim your 15 % discount at the end of this post below.

So! My Halloween tutorial has been published twice - once last year in American Miniaturist magazine, and again this month in Dolls House World magazine. However, you can also buy my tutorial in PDF format at my shop. It is in more depth, has larger images and includes more steps.

My Marketplace - in Print!

I'm so happy to share another magazine feature!

It's in US publication, American Miniaturist, and it's all about my fruit and vegetables in 1:12 scale, namely a marketplace piece I made back in early 2012. Written by Janet Stuart. It came out this month (Sept 2014).

I've included the feature below and also some of my fruit and vegetables from the past and the not so distant past! Some of the photos show fruit in the making from earlier this year.

Don't forget to look out for new fruit and veg at my 'Savoury' section of my online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop from time to time!

Fashion Bites

Happy New Year everyone!!! First of all, a big thank you to all of you that follow this blog and/or like my Hummingbird Miniatures Facebook page. It's great to have your interest and support!

What a fun year 2013 was. I left New Zealand and moved back to America, expanded my business further, was featured in several more magazines including a few more magazine covers, attained my Greencard (which means I have permanent residency in the US), flew back to my home country of England twice, and traveled to the Canary Isles. I so look forward to many more great things this year. Thank you for sharing the miniature journey with me!

I just wanted to share a fun US magazine article I was featured in last year (I just recently received my copy of it) - which focuses on my miniature jewelry. You may already know that at my online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop I sell my miniature food jewelry, and at my other shop I sell my miniature fairytale variety. Both brands are showcased. Take a look at the feature below...

What's in store for 2014?
FILM  This year I will be spending a good deal of time working on the film 'Myrtle the Witch' (a short film which is shot entirely on miniature scale sets and using hand-sculpted miniature characters) - find out more about this and stay connected at the Tall Tales Productions Facebook page here

BOOK   I also have a book coming out (my very first miniature book) and you can find out about that here. This book focuses solely on my other brand - of fairytale and fantasy miniatures, not Hummingbird Miniatures (miniature food).

NEW RANGES   More food ranges will also be created and I will still take *some* commissions, so stay connected and in the 'Hummingbird' loop!

American Miniaturist Feature

It's always fun to check my mail box and find my hard copy of a miniature magazine I've appeared in. I recently received my copy of American Miniaturist from Dec of last year (2012) with a little two page feature on my Hummingbird Miniatures Christmas food. They also included some photos from my other brand (blog here).

Here's the article and the images used below. They used pictures from my Christmas 2010 Range and my Christmas 2011 Range (whilst my Christmas 2012 Range was featured extensively in Dolls House & Miniature Scene last Dec).

Click on the magazine front cover to be taken to the American Miniaturist site where you can find their back issues and such.

:)
