Cake for Cake's Sake

I am flying to England today for my sister's wedding, and I'm super excited about it! But I just wanted to share something new with you all before I fly off. I have been working on some new cake trays of all kinds and here's some photos of a finished one. It's a blue cake on a wooden painted tray and it has one of my signature Hummingbird Miniatures dotty forks. I made the trays and everything else you see.

If you're interested in purchasing one of my new cake trays (don't forget you can personalize them - choose the colour, have a birthday cake with candles / a black forest cake / a cake like this blue one with strawberries etc etc) then just email me or leave a comment and I'll arrange a commission. They're so cute and tiny (approx 1.5 " in width) and make a perfect unique gift - even for someone who does not have a dollhouse.

Don't forget about my new range of birthday cakes, coming to my online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop soon!

Take a look at my 'work in progress' on this new 'Cake Tray' range below!

Fun on the 4th!

Last Friday was Independence Day in America and so I hope all my American friends had a lot of fun celebrating it! I went to a friend's BBQ in my little neck of the woods in Los Angeles and ate hotdogs, burgers, potato salad, popcorn and had a great time.

I didn't have time this year to create a new 4th July Range, but I do still have a few pieces from last year (post here) which I re-photographed for my portfolio (it's here, but hasn't yet been updated!). Don't miss these realistic little foods at my online Hummingbird Miniatures shop here.

Stay tuned for more cakes and some Mexican food coming soon... ;)

Yet more new Cakes

My last post (here) about miniature cakes seemed to go down very well as I have had many commissions for various birthday cakes in various colours since! I will be showing all kinds here on this blog as I make more in every colour and style you can dream up.

For now, here are two latest ones. A re-design on the classic Pink Birthday cake which I became so well known for 5 years ago. This customer asked for it to be as you see below (cut open, little drips in the frosting, pink and white striped candles). However, I don't think this is how I will start re-listing them at my online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop. I think I will make the new ones with rainbow candles as before. But please note how much SMALLER and refined my candles are!

Don't forget that you can email me for a commission, you can find my shop here, you can request wholesale prices and you can follow what's going on over at Hummingbird by liking the Facebook page here!

Number Candles, New Cakes!

Hello everyone!
Gosh, what a lot of travelling I have done this year! I have neglected Hummingbird Miniatures over the past couple of months as I was away in China and then France. But, I'm back, orders are rolling in, the online Hummingbird Miniatures shop is open and you're welcome to email me to make any request you like.

The other day I was asked to make a pink birthday cake for someone with some '5 0' candles on top, as it is for their 50th birthday. I was delighted to do this as I've never done it before. Here are some photos of the finished cake before I send it off.

If you would like to design your own specialty cake, or request a birthday cake with number candles, then please email me and place your order now.

Thanks! :)

A Different Spin on Mini Food

Have you ever clicked over to the miniature world of Pixie Dust Miniatures?

Pixie Dust Miniatures is all about fantasy, fairytale, witchy and whimsical miniatures. You can find unicorn horns, pumpkins, hand-blown glass jars of magic matter such as molten gold and mugwort, and there's a selection of dragon and monster eggs as well as some unusual foods....

I thought I'd devote this post to some of the unusual foods which are being made for Pixie Dust Miniatures... there are Poison Apple Pies, Bat Apple Tarts, Bone Pies, Snail Cupcakes and witchy Candy Apples....

Everything is created with the same amount of realism and details as Hummingbird Miniatures miniature food. But this food has a magic twist!

Find Pixie Dust Miniatures at:

BLOG here,

If you want to know even more about this fantasy food and what a lot of it is being used for, then click over to the MAIN page - on Facebook HERE. Much of the witchy food is being created for a short film and is needed for a scene inside a cake and pie shop. If you want to follow the progress of the film and eventually watch it when it's finished. then be sure to become a fan of the Facebook page.

Happy Easter 2014!

Happy Easter everyone!

As you may know, I just got back from 2 weeks away in China.

The trip throughout China (starting in Hong Kong, then Guilin, Xi-an, Beijing, Shanghai and back in Hong Kong) was so wonderful and inspiring that there will DEFINITELY be some Chinese miniatures in progress soon...

So - the online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop is back online and business has been resumed as usual.

Have a lovely weekend and wishing you a Happy Easter from Hummingbird Miniatures!
