Marie Antoinette Parlour Cakes

Wow, I got some wonderful comments and emails about my sneak peek at these Versailles cakes at my previous post here! I am so glad people seem to like them. I had a lot of fun making them.

Here are all the pictures. Now listed at my online shop! They are being sold as OOAK ('one of a kind'. I will not be repeating this cake range). I made dozens and dozens of rose petals and certainly don't feel like doing all that again... not to mention each individually handmade raspberry!

And finally the cake range which is for purchase, pictured with a match. (No stands included).

Inspiration from Versailles!

Recently I got all excited about the film 'Marie Antoinette' (2006) - not because I like the film (which is among the most boring I've ever seen), but because I love the sets, costumes and of course the use of Laduree cakes.

So I've made an array of French cakes and desserts which I'll share with you very soon. Before that I'd love to show you my inspiration!

Here is a sneak peek at my new and upcoming Marie Antoinette Parlour Cake Range. Handmade by me in 1/12 (one inch) scale. Available soon at my online store.

And the movie still which inspired it.

Now and Then

My brother sent me some old photos and prompted me to remember how I used to love tiny things as a child.
You see I grew up in the English countryside in the tiniest village on the edge of nowhere, surrounded by fields... there wasn't much for my 5 siblings and me to do except use our imaginations and make our own fun. A big fallen tree became a pirate ship, I drew maps and buried them in the riverbed, and I especially remember searching for tiny people which my older sister and I believed lived in the trees. At some point I got my hands on some FIMO and started making miniatures for these tiny people and later selling them at primary (elementary) school for sweets.
For my 5th birthday my mum made me a Pink Tea Party Cake laden with tiny cakes, sandwiches and a tea set (all made from fondant icing)!

So here's the photos of me age 5, with my marvelous cake!

And roll on 24 years... this is me today. :)

A whole new Birthday Cake Range you say?

Yep... I've been planning it for a while and my new Birthday Cake Range will be enormous fun and I look forward to finishing them up and sharing them with you soon.

So I may possibly discontinue my best-selling Pink Birthday Cake with candles... unsure yet but I may do. If anyone has any comment please let me know!
