The Forgotten Patisserie

Years ago, back in 2010 I think, I created a French patisserie. It was built solely to showcase the growing range of French patisserie cakes I had been making at the time, and was not built as a roombox for sale.

However, this patisserie was never shown here on my blog or even on my Facebook page, as was intended. It seems I completely forgot!

I was digging through my archives - looking for some photos of cakes which I promised to a magazine editor when I stumbled on them and realised they'd never been shown. So - just to remedy that and keep my blog up to date with all that I create, I have decided to upload them today!

This French patisserie, built in 2010 and filled with pretty packaging, cakes, religieuse pastries and eclairs all made by me is not to be confused with the modern London patisserie / cake shop from 2012 (here).

Incidentally, you can still find detailed handmade French pastries at my Etsy shop. See the chart showing all the different varieties of religieuse pastries.

And this is my modern London patisserie and cake shop which I made in 2012.

Marie Antoinette - Comparing Cake Photos...

Marie Antoinette and a COMPETITION to know about... ;)

Yes, I am sure most of you already know about a free-to-enter competition happening over at Pixie Dust, but in case you haven't entered yet you can click here and you have 1 week left!

********
I never really loved the product photos I had taken of my Marie Antoinette cakes which I was inspired to make by the Coppola film. The photos of the famous Ladurée cakes were striking, but quite cold as the set seemed to be bathed in a white-blue light. I matched these photos as much as possible and was pleased with the result. See below. However, I am much happier with the photos I recently took on a nice sunny California day in my miniature patisserie. What do you think? Better?! I think nicer. :)

A Pink Wedding Cake for a Blushing Bride

A friend just brought to my attention that I haven't blogged about my Pink Ladurée Wedding Cake yet! So here goes...

You've seen my Ivory Laduree Wedding Cake, and now here's my fabulously, frivolously French Pink Ladurée Wedding Cake which is about as near a replica as I could make of the iconic Ladurée version.
It took me many days and hours to ice this cake by hand, add all the little pink flowers, silver balls and sugared almonds. Unlike the ivory wedding cake, this one has the Ladurée patisserie label on the top.

It is 1/12 (one inch) scale and available at my online shop right now.

And here's the original Ladurée Pink Wedding Cake from the Ladurée website.

Wedding Cakes now listed

You can now find my Laduree Wedding Cakes on my online Etsy store.

They took me days and days to make, as both have hand piped icing, sugared almonds, tiny flowers and sit on Laduree cake boards, just like the real deals.

These cakes are 1/12 th the size (one inch scale) and handmade by myself out of polymer clay.

Enjoy!

Nice day for a White Wedding...!

Since Sumaiya of the Mini Food Blog kindly showed some photos of my Pink Laduree Wedding Cake, I was prompted to actually blog about my wedding cakes here too! I've been getting around to it...

So firstly, here's my fabulously, frivolously French Ivory Laduree Wedding Cake which is about as near a replica as I could make of the iconic Laduree version.
It took me many days and hours to ice this cake by hand, add all the little white flowers, silver balls and sugared almonds, not to mention making the figurines on the top!

It is 1/12 (one inch) scale and will be available at my online shop in the very near future. Stay tuned for the pink one also. :)

This is the Laduree original in Paris.

Marie Antoinette Parlour Cakes

Wow, I got some wonderful comments and emails about my sneak peek at these Versailles cakes at my previous post here! I am so glad people seem to like them. I had a lot of fun making them.

Here are all the pictures. Now listed at my online shop! They are being sold as OOAK ('one of a kind'. I will not be repeating this cake range). I made dozens and dozens of rose petals and certainly don't feel like doing all that again... not to mention each individually handmade raspberry!

Handmade by me in 1/12 (one inch scale) with great attention to realism and detail.

My favourite photo (trying to emulate the one below!)

And finally the cake range which is for purchase, pictured with a match. (No stands included).

Inspiration from Versailles!

Recently I got all excited about the film 'Marie Antoinette' (2006) - not because I like the film (which is among the most boring I've ever seen), but because I love the sets, costumes and of course the use of Laduree cakes.

So I've made an array of French cakes and desserts which I'll share with you very soon. Before that I'd love to show you my inspiration!

Here is a sneak peek at my new and upcoming Marie Antoinette Parlour Cake Range. Handmade by me in 1/12 (one inch) scale. Available soon at my online store.

And the movie still which inspired it.
