My Workspace... Playing with Colour

Preparing for Valentine's Day, and well it just had to be French didn't it?! With Paris being the city of love (not sure if it is since the only time I was there I was 9 years old, despite being in and out of France dozens of time since then) but I love the romance of the architecture, fashion and food. So... most of my Valentine's Range for 2012 fits nicely into my 'Fabulously French' Range too.

Here's a glimpse into my workspace... been making tonnes of 'religieuse' (famous French pastry) in the Ladurée style. Invented some of my own colours for them but they're mostly the same as you'd find in Ladurée. Each one takes me ages to make as I am extremely attentive to detail and have spent years practicing to get them as close to the originals as possible.

Take a look at the colourful happenings over at my other blog too and check back here (and my online store) very soon as I launch my new Valentine's Range for 2012. :)tu

A Dollhouse Moment on TV!

Had to share this because I thought it was so cool!
It's a recent British TV commercial which takes you into the tiny world of a dollhouse, miniature model railway, snow-globe, and cuckoo clock and advertises the technical communication that keeps them all connected.

Click on the image above to watch the commercial or scroll through the images below. They're so much fun! Wish I'd been hired to build out some of the models.... I'm so out of the loop in the UK! To be remedied... ;)

Cheese please!

With over 700 British cheeses made in the UK, boy did I miss English cheese when I lived in the US! Felt inspired to make some fun English cheese plates as part of my 'Best of British' range and here's some photos for you to see.
Stay tuned for glass-domed cheese boards to be added to my shop before long...
Find cheese at my online shop as well!

Oh Deary Me!

Noooooo.... there has been quite a mishap over at Hummingbird! As I was packing all my miniatures to transport them from the US to the UK (via my hand-luggage of course) I accidentally stood a box of dozens of Pink Birthday Cakes next to a heater. A very hot heater. So, tragically, several of the birthday cakes now have tiny hair-line cracks in the frosting because of the heat exposure. The cracks are mostly at the back and not super noticeable, but they are there nonetheless.

I couldn't possibly throw them away. They're far too detailed and pretty (and hours of work goes into each one) so I'll see if anyone wants to buy one at a discount. Scroll down for discount info.

You can't really see any cracks at the front - it's mostly the back. I've put some photos down at the bottom to show the damage. Take a look and let me know what you think. :)

And below are photos of two different cakes showing some cracks... :(
