Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing everyone (well my American friends at least) a Happy Thanksgiving!

As many of you know, I am English and live in California - so I was not brought up with Thanksgiving. Instead, in Britain, we had the Harvest Festival and of course our biggest November event is Guy Fawkes Night (or Bonfire Night). Today was my 4th Thanksgiving, but the very first time I have roasted my own turkey for the occasion. I took a photo and included it in this post (lame - yes, definitely!)

Promotions and Competition News...

I am running a big Black Friday discount tomorrow. It will be applied to my online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop and is of course valid to all customers - not just Americans!

The first 5 customers will receive 30% off all in store.
The next 5 customers will receive 20% off all in store.
Everyone else will receive 10% off all in store for the remainder of the weekend.

Sale starts tomorrow at 10 am (Pacific Standard Time) and runs all weekend (ending at 10 pm on Sunday). Check the Hummingbird Miniatures Facebook page here to see the announcement of the coupon code (this will be announced tomorrow morning just before 10 am).

And - don't miss out on the COMPETITION on my other blog - it ends this Saturday at midnight!

Roast Turkey and Cranberries

With Thanksgiving around the corner I thought I better hurry up and list my two new design turkeys at my online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop.

They can be used for Thanksgiving or Christmas. One is partially carved, the other one is whole. Both sit on a bed of greens and cranberries and are attached to baking trays. These miniature roasts are featured in the Christmas issue of the fabulous magazine - Dolls House and Miniature Scene! So look out for that - I'd recommend subscribing to this magazine anyway. :)

Find the one inch scale miniature roast turkeys here before they're gone!

Coming soon this Christmas...

Thank you to everyone who gave me their vote on how they'd prefer to see my roast turkeys! I had a massive response on Facebook and the overall verdict is that most prefer an un-carved bird. Good to know. :)

~ This is just a sneak preview of the Christmas range which you'll see coming from Hummingbird Miniatures this year.

Stay tuned, and don't forget to 'like' the Hummingbird Miniatures Facebook page to stay on top of updates and see lots of photos and such.

The online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop is currently stocked with Halloween cakes, donuts and cookies and you can find it here.

Making Christmas... 2013!

I've recently started making some small Thanksgiving / Christmas 2013 Ranges, starting of course with some roast turkeys (last year I did roast goose as part of my Christmas 2012 range for a change).

I decided to upload some photos of these roast birds in-the-making because I am keen to ask everyone's opinion. Do you prefer partially carved roasts, or do they look better un-carved?

Please take a look at my quick snaps and tell me if you think I should carve all my birds or leave them un-carved? I'm selling these as collectors items of course (they're not for a larger commissioned project for a change) so that's why I ask your opinion! Leave a comment on this blog or on my Hummingbird Miniatures Facebook page. Thanks so much!
