Traditional Gingerbread House

Don't you just love the smell of gingerbread?! I love going to the Christmas markets in London and tasting warm soft gingerbread from the stalls, as well as mulled wine, shortbread and florentines.... and I love seeing all the brilliant traditionally German wooden crafts... handmade Christmas ornaments, nativities and candles...

It was my love of traditional and German Christmas things that inspired me to make this very traditional Gingerbread House. It looks a little like something out of the German fairytale Hansel and Gretel.

Carefully handmade with enormous patience (hand-iced of course, so it required a lot of time and a magnifying glass) this gingerbread house is currently featured in the Dec issue of UK magazine 'Dolls House & Miniature Scene'. It is in one inch (1:12) scale and entirely handmade by myself, including all the cane candy as I never buy pre-made canes!

I will make it available at my online Hummingbird Miniatures shop soon.

More Christmas items coming soon... :)

More Miniature Food Jewelry

Have you seen the brand new Mini Food Jewelry items now listed at my online store?!

Here's a quick glimpse. People kept requesting Gingerbread Men so I now have two kinds of gingerbread men earrings, a gingerbread man ring and a gingerbread man pendant... so it proves I do listen to people's requests!

Gingerbread House Tree Ornaments!

This is my favourite Hummingbird Miniatures Christmas range item - it's a Gingerbread House Tree Ornament (Decoration) and you can find it at both shops here and here .

Incredibly detailed in 1:12 scale (and made from polymer clay), the gingerbread houses hang from little red satin ribbons which hang nicely on your Christmas tree branches!

You can see more pictures, and pictures of the 'Christmas elf making process' on my other blog Pixie Dust Miniatures here .

PS I am traveling back to England in just 2.5 days time and will have to put the shops on hold for a bit, so if you're interested in something on the shops then you best be quick as I won't be able to make new items once these sell out! :)

Christmas Candy and Gingerbread Houses!

Hi everyone,
I'll start listing Christmas items gradually starting tomorrow. I'll be starting with Gingerbread Houses so I thought as usual I'd share them with you first. :) They are extremely detailed (took me agggges) and lovingly handmade in 1:12 scale from polymer clay. They're decorated with all kinds of candy such as Dolly Mixtures (an English candy which is a lot like Liquorice Allsorts without the liquorice), chocolate buttons, candy canes, chocolate stars, star-shape cookies and white sugar icing.
Hope you like them!

If you want to see photos of them being made then just click here :)

Or you can purchase one here :)

They'll be available on my shop for a little over a week and then I may have to shut the shop temporarily whilst I fly back to Britain for my Christmas vacation.
