Tudor Fare this Christmas

Just a little commission someone asked me to do! I've made Tudor foods before and I was messaged and asked to make this new rustic board of cheeses, breads, fruit and meat pies. It's in one inch scale and everything was made by myself of course. The foods are polymer clay and mixed media, and the board is wood, hand-carved, stained and waxed.

Handmade Food Jewelry

Gosh... where have I been?! Good question! I have been away from Hummingbird Miniatures for a while because I have been working on my film, which uses miniature characters and miniature sets, so you should absolutely check out the Facebook page here! I've missed you all so I'll be back here for a bit now. :)

So today is Cinco de Mayo (a huge Mexican holiday) and so I have been busily creating Mexican food in miniature, including some new mini food jewelry featuring very realistic limes. I'm late finishing these items, but check back soon as there will be an array of dollhouse miniature Mexican foods and Mexican mini food jewelry! All handmade by myself and in one inch scale, of course.

My Marketplace - in Print!

I'm so happy to share another magazine feature!

It's in US publication, American Miniaturist, and it's all about my fruit and vegetables in 1:12 scale, namely a marketplace piece I made back in early 2012. Written by Janet Stuart. It came out this month (Sept 2014).


I've included the feature below and also some of my fruit and vegetables from the past and the not so distant past! Some of the photos show fruit in the making from earlier this year.

Pear-Shaped

I only found out recently that Americans don't use the expression 'to go pear-shaped'. It's a well known expression in the UK and simply means to go wrong. I used the expression in an email recently and the American receiver didn't take my meaning at all! Anyway, I just remembered that as I listed some new realistic pears in my online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop.

Stay on the look out for a few more Christmas items which will be added over the next couple of days. Don't worry if you have just recently purchased something and then decide you want to buy something else. I always reimburse people who accidentally pay postage more than once. Also, if you buy something from my other Etsy shop and still want to visit the Hummingbird Miniatures shop, then I combine postage. :)

Nutcracker Christmas - 2013

This Christmas I fell in love with the Nutcracker Ballet, and you'll find a variety of all new and OOAK (one of a kind) items in my Hummingbird shop this Christmas which take inspiration from this beautiful ballet.

Note that this year I am also introducing a few pieces of Limited Edition furniture as well.

There is a handmade screen / room divider (which is wooden and silk paneled) with images of Christmas trees and ballerinas. This is OOAK and won't be repeated. There is only one.

There is an 'antique' French buffet in pale blue and gold. It has a faux marble top and mirrored back. I love this piece as the small shelves on the back allow you to display ornaments at different heights and it becomes such a feature in a room. This is OOAK and won't be repeated. There is only one.

Besides the furniture pieces, there are gilded pears, a Sugarplum fairy wreath and more will be coming soon...

4th July in Miniature

Independence Day is coming up... ! A funny thing for a Brit living in America to celebrate, but nonetheless, it's a popular holiday for miniaturists and I really enjoy creating Independence Day scenes in miniature for magazines and private collectors. :) These photos show my new range of miniatures all handmade by me of course and in one inch scale.
