Before the Bakery Closes...

In case you missed my latest update (here), just wanted to let you know that my online Hummingbird Miniatures shop is going to close in a few days as I am flying to China for a 2 week vacation to visit my brother who lives out there.

Pastries, pastries, pastries!

If you check my online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop you'll notice that this morning 9 different kinds of pastries have been added to the Bakery Section.

Everything has been handmade by myself without the use of molds, and in tiny 1:12 (one inch scale) with great care to realism and detail. Each one took me a long time to make!

There are...
Apricot danishes, croissants, cheese danishes, croissants decorated with icing, apple turnovers, french hearts, pain au chocolat, cinnamon swirls and pain au chocolat decorated with chocolate icing.

Do you remember when I blogged about tiny detailed miniature pastries (here) and a new line of bread I'd made (here)...? Well it was about a year ago - so you probably don't remember!

I FINALLY had the chance to start photographing these ranges today. So I'll finish taking pictures and you can start to look for them over at the Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy shop. I'll mention it here and at my Facebook page before then as well!

Making Croissants for Tom Bishop!

Yep, the big Dollhouse Miniature fair is looming (next month) and I'm getting ready so I'll have lots to take. I'm going to list some of it at my shop as well - for those of you that can't get out to California so easily. :)

Here's some Mixed Croissant Trays I made. They're very cute. The baking trays are lined with baking paper and filled with 6 mixed crispy croissants including 2 all butter croissants, 1 chocolate croissant, 1 iced butter croissant and 2 pain au chocolat. All in 1:12 (one inch) scale carefully handmade by me. Find them at my online shop here.

Baskets of Pastries / Croissants

I remembered to share photos of some croissants and pain au chocolat I made the other week when The Mini Food Blog was doing its feature on croissants. But what I didn't remember / get around to doing was listing some for sale on my shop! Well I've remedied this today. For the time being you can find two kinds of mixed baskets of croissants at my shop, and in the future you'll be able to find croissants on plates, breakfast trays and baking sheets. :)

All Butter Croissants

And finally, as part of my 'continental breakfast' uploads this month, here's some all butter croissants. Only 196 calories if you get them from Sainsbury's, and no calories if you get them from Hummingbird Miniatures store. ;)
Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend. I, on the other hand, have caught this horrible cold / throat infection from people at work and went in today for what was supposed to be a 10 hour day and left after 3 hours. Oh well... did my best. Cup of tea with honey time I think...

Pain au Chocolat

I went to my favourite cafe in Los Angeles the other day - 'The Alcove', and saw they had some lovely looking 'Pain au Chocolat' in the glass display counter, so I asked the staff for one, using the name I've always called them by in the UK. She looked a bit baffled and I quickly discovered they're simply called 'chocolate croissants' in the US. Reminded me of the time I went into that same place about a year ago and asked for the 'fairy cake with smarties on it'. The staff thought it was so funny... if I'd been American I'd have known to ask for the 'cupcake with candy on it'!
Anyway, it also reminded me to post photos of my scale miniature pain au chocolat / chocolate croissants for you to see. :) They'll be available on my shop before long (and as usual feel free to message me and put in a request for anything you see on this blog and can't find at my store).
