Number Candles, New Cakes!

Hello everyone!
Gosh, what a lot of travelling I have done this year! I have neglected Hummingbird Miniatures over the past couple of months as I was away in China and then France. But, I'm back, orders are rolling in, the online Hummingbird Miniatures shop is open and you're welcome to email me to make any request you like.

The other day I was asked to make a pink birthday cake for someone with some '5 0' candles on top, as it is for their 50th birthday. I was delighted to do this as I've never done it before. Here are some photos of the finished cake before I send it off.

If you would like to design your own specialty cake, or request a birthday cake with number candles, then please email me and place your order now.

Thanks! :)

Mountains of Bread and Cheese, please!

Do you remember when I posted about my new bread range (back here)? Well I have been soooo busy that I still haven't had time to photograph each new kind of bread and make them available at my online Hummingbird Miniatures Etsy Shop. But, I will do soon... honestly! So check back here or Facebook every so often.

Anyway, part of why I have been so busy? I had an order for 500 pieces of bread from a lady in Paris, and almost as many cheeses. It was a fun and all-consuming commission so I thought I'd share photos of it in progress on my blog for you all to see.

Keep checking back at this blog and the Facebook page if you want updates on the new Christmas 2013 range which will be coming soon....! Don't forget to click to 'follow' and 'like' so that you don't miss coupons and competitions which are available for blog followers and Facebook fans. :)

Your Wedding cake in Miniature

I just realized I never shared these photos of a fun commission I undertook last summer (2012). It was for a client's son's wedding cake and she wanted it recreated in half inch scale. The cake had red roses around each level, chocolate sauce dripping down the sides and a diamante letter 'D' on the top. Very pretty, quite unusual.

Fun challenge. I was delighted to recreate this cake for her. Have a look at the photo below showing the original alongside it.

If you ever want your wedding cake re-created in miniature then drop me an email and I'd be happy to discuss it. Meanwhile, here's some of my other wedding cakes I have made...

150 Baguettes - what a Custom Order!

Yep - a tall order it was too!
A lovely lady from Paris needed 150 baguettes - half of them baked and half 'raw' in appearance. I started making them as soon as I got over my jet-lag after landing in England from LA. Took a few snaps for people's interest. :)

If you're ever interested in buying from me in bulk then be sure to drop me an email (contact info is here) and I'll be happy to oblige. I offer hefty discounts to people buying in bulk. :)

Here's my bread, and more bread, and more bread....

All one inch scale.

Making it in Half Inch Scale!

One of my very best clients provided me with a fun challenge this weekend - to recreate some of my new Halloween 2011 Range in Half Inch scale! (1:24 scale)

Here's the outcome. Some of it was so very tiny I had to use a magnifying glass!
