A Christmas Feature, again!

Yay! Another cover! I love getting covers at Christmas (see last year's here, and year before that here). This year it is on 'The Dolls' House Magazine' and you can purchase a copy of this brilliant UK magazine here.

This is the feature below and a selection of the photos they used. Please note that these scenes were originally created for (but not printed in) the magazine 'Dolls House and Miniature Scene', which my talented friend Stephanie is on the cover of this month - and it's a fabulous magazine, so you should check that out too.

A Christmas Feature

It's just 2 days until Christmas...............................!

I am so thrilled to be featured in (and on the cover of) one of my all-time favourite miniature magazines! This December my Hummingbird Miniatures are featured in 'Dolls House & Miniature Scene' magazine - a fantastic read published in the UK. You can buy your copy here.

So here's my roast turkey on a dinner table spread with Christmas crackers, candles and vegetables. It's on the magazine front cover and below you can see the other images included in the article - such as a Christmas cake and Nutcracker shop scene.

Dreaming of a Pink Christmas...

You may have noticed that much of my Christmas 2013 range has been pink in some way. It's because I was inspired by the Nutcracker Ballet and I may have become carried away! To complete the pinkish theme, here's a cute Christmas cake which is made with pink and yellow candy canes and decorated with little iced biscuits. All of the candy is handmade by me as I never buy pre-made canes.

Also, this cake was featured along with other Christmas miniatures I made this year, in the magazine 'Dolls House and Miniature Scene'. It's a fantastic magazine full of articles about miniature artisans discussing their work, projects and everything you need to know about miniatures really! I highly recommend buying a copy or, better yet - subscribing.

Sick of hearing me blog about magazine and book features yet?! Okay, last one, last one... for at least a few weeks, okay?!

Got my copy of Spanish miniature publication ' Miniaturas' magazine in the post and have shared images they used along with the mini feature below. It's from Dec of last year (2012) and it showcases some of my Christmas Range from 2012.

Much more of my Christmas 2012 Range was featured in 'Dolls House and Miniature Scene' last year (post about that here).

That's right - Hummingbird Miniatures is now part of a great new book recently released by Ashdown Publishing!

Traci Nigon has edited a fabulous book of Christmas miniatures made from a variety of miniaturists from around the world. My dining table of Christmas foods made it to the front cover. It's entitled 'Mini Christmas Cooking: Volume 2'

American Miniaturist Feature

It's always fun to check my mail box and find my hard copy of a miniature magazine I've appeared in. I recently received my copy of American Miniaturist from Dec of last year (2012) with a little two page feature on my Hummingbird Miniatures Christmas food. They also included some photos from my other brand (blog here).

Here's the article and the images used below. They used pictures from my Christmas 2010 Range and my Christmas 2011 Range (whilst my Christmas 2012 Range was featured extensively in Dolls House & Miniature Scene last Dec).

Cover Girl FEATURE this Christmas!

I am honoured to have been given the front cover for the Christmas issue of UK magazine Dolls House & Miniature Scene (find the issue here)!

The front cover shows my Christmas living room which I made specifically for Christmas this year. I laid all the hardwood flooring myself, papered the walls, created the fireplace, all the food, traditional decorations, decorated the tree, painted the furniture and took the photographs. I will post a free tutorial on how to create a room like this one (in terms of papering and flooring) soon, so look out for that.
